The novel writing app that remembers your whole story.
Typetoe is a quiet workspace for long-form fiction. It reads your manuscript and keeps track of every character, place, and decision — using your own AI, never writing in your place. An editor, not a ghostwriter.
What is Typetoe?
Typetoe is a novel writing app for long-form fiction. Instead of generating prose for you, it reads your manuscript and builds a living memory of your project — characters, places, rules, and open questions — and lets you keep writing with your own AI model, at a cost you control.
Documents forget. Typetoe doesn’t.
A novel outgrows a single file. Over months it collects chapters, characters, timelines, discarded scenes, sources, and things to verify. Typetoe builds a living memory of your project, so you always know what’s canon, what’s uncertain, and what still needs attention.

Esther, the midwife
First appears in Chapter I. Jewish midwife in Asnières-sur-Seine; announces Marlène’s birth to the neighbourhood.
The story bible that writes itself.
Most writing tools make you fill in a character-and-lore database by hand. Typetoe does the opposite: every time it reads a document, it proposes new characters, locations, rules, and research to-dos as cards. You approve what’s right and dismiss the rest. Your world builds itself while you write.
Bring your own AI. Keep control of the cost.
Connect your own OpenAI, Anthropic, or other API key and switch models whenever you like. A live estimate of tokens and spend sits in your sidebar, and Typetoe’s router warns you — and asks first — before any action crosses a threshold you set. The flexibility of bring-your-own-key, without the surprise bill.
Your manuscript is never used to train anyone’s model.

An editor and a librarian. Never a ghostwriter.
Typetoe’s AI never writes your prose. It does the quiet work instead. As an editor, it observes your project, summarizes what matters, and surfaces open problems. As a librarian, it knows your whole project and the workspace — so you can just ask it to help you use the app: file a new character card, find where you mentioned a place, check what’s in your Charter, jump to the right document. It operates the tools on request; the writing stays entirely yours. And with the Charter, you set the rules it must always follow: point of view, tone, forbidden words, anything.

Where did I first mention Venice?
In Chapter III, “The Lagoon” — Thérèse recalls her honeymoon. It also appears in your Locations card Venice, 1911. Shall I open it?
Yes — and add a note that the bridge scene moves there.
Done. Note added to Venice, 1911.

A quiet place to write — in your language.
Typetoe speaks English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian from the start. Not just the buttons: the interface, the AI’s answers, and the help all follow the language you write in. Long-form writing is intimate work — it should happen somewhere that feels like home, not somewhere you’re translating in your head.
All five languages are young. If a phrase reads clumsy in yours, tell us — Typetoe's words, like its features, are still being written with the people who use it.
Typetoe started because I needed a first reader. Someone impartial and honest, who had actually read all of my drafts and remembered every one of my characters — and who was available at two in the morning. I couldn’t find one, so I built one. Writing in the age of AI doesn’t mean letting AI write. It means picking up one more tool of the trade — the way writers once picked up the typewriter — and keeping the craft exactly where it belongs: with you.

Questions writers ask
Does Typetoe write my novel for me?
+
No. Typetoe is an editor and archivist, not a ghostwriter. It reads your manuscript, tracks your story’s details, and helps you stay consistent — it never writes prose in your place.
Do I need my own AI key?
+
Yes — Typetoe uses your own API key from OpenAI, Anthropic, or another provider. You switch models freely and see your token cost live, so you’re never surprised by a bill.
Is my manuscript private?
+
Your work is yours. It is never used to train any AI model, and you can export or back it up to your own Dropbox at any time.
Can I get my work out?
+
Always. Export any document or project to PDF, DOCX, Markdown, HTML, or a re-importable ZIP — on any plan, with no lock-in.
What can the AI actually do?
+
Two things, and it never writes your story. It works as an editor — reading your manuscript, tracking details, flagging problems — and as a librarian: because it can see your project and knows the app, you can ask it to add a card, find a mention, check your Charter, or move around the workspace, and it does it for you.
What languages does Typetoe support?
+
English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian, from day one — interface, AI answers, and help all follow the language you choose, so you can write somewhere that feels like home.
What kind of writing is it for?
+
Long-form fiction above all — novels, series, worldbuilding-heavy stories — and any long manuscript where keeping track of details over time is the hard part.
Does my feedback actually change anything?
+
Yes — that's what the beta is for. Features, languages, and even future pricing are being shaped by what early writers ask for. Write to feedback@typetoe.com, or use the feedback button inside the app.
